Carnival in the style of Catalonia, Northeastern Spain
#carnaval Carnival, also known in Catalonia as the “carnestoltes”, is a holiday celebrated on certain dates according to the lunar calendar. Exactly, Dijous Gras marks the beginning and is celebrated until Ash Wednesday, which marks the end of this holiday and the beginning of Lent.
It's a party of transgression and fun. People dress up, dance, sing, although depending on the municipality you can live in different ways.
With more than 250 years of history, it is the only one that continued to be held, openly but discreetly, during the first years of the Franco dictatorship in Spain.

Surprisingly, all the more so since Spain is not exactly known as a carnival country now. Catalonia is therefore the special part of the Iberian Peninsula.

I must say that I never knew that they are celebrating carnival in Spain. Not in Catalonia, nor in other parts of the country. This short story is a surprise to me.
