Century Is How Long?
You might have heard that we are living in the 21st generation. Born back in the 20th century, what exactly does this century mean? A century is defined as a fixed time, more precisely 100 years long. Usually, people refer to it in terms of the specific centuries that started from 1 CE.
In terms of years, one century is equivalent to exactly 100 years. Ten years are equal to a decade.
So, one century means ten decades. And so, one decade is equivalent to 0.1 century. Such mathematics is long. But without going much deeper into calculations, we can describe the century in terms of minutes, hours, days too. We can say that a century has 52,560,000 minutes, 87,0000 hours, and 36500 days approximately.
Since we are living in the 21st century, it means 20 centuries have passed since 1CE, or more precisely, we are 2000 years past 1 CE. We can also say that a century divides into ten decades.
For example, 21st century starts in 2000 and ends in 2099. Thus there are ten decades, including 2001 to 2010, 2011 to 2020, and this goes on. This definition of each century right from 1CE is 100 years if you are following the Georgian calendar, which describes the reason behind 365 days in a year.
