Clay refrigerator magnets tinkering
For any age, clay is very nice to do. The more often you work with clay, the better your workpieces will succeed. At least, that's our experience. The first step in clay is quite a bit important. Give your children a lump of clay and you say make something, it often stays with a snake, a turd or a slice. When we clay with the children, we first show a (simple) example and the steps you “have to” take. If that succeeds (and with help, of course, always succeeds). The children get excited and sometimes make a second, and a third. Then they go loose and experiment themselves. You can also present pictures or separate drawings that they can then clay a bit “after”.

We used clay from Creall here. It is Do & Dry modeling clay, smooth and supple clay that is air-drying, so it naturally becomes hard (self-hardening). Ideal clay to use with children! For example, make nice simple animals and glue after drying and after painting a magnet on the back. Then you have super cute fridge magnets, which the kids can watch for a long time! Add a magnetic board (with Creall magnet paint) and they can hang it above their desk to hang pictures.

Of course, there are also many tools for clay, such as molds, moulds, sculpting spatulas and templates, which make clay even more fun. The clay pleasure is also determined by the clay itself. If you have granular clay, which quickly crumbles and/or tears, then that is not so fine clay. But if you have fine malleable and smooth clay, the result is more beautiful and the children want to make works of art from clay more often. Actually logical, huh?

When the clay figures are dry, the magnets are easiest (and the most solid) to glue with a glue gun.
