Collage request “Why Can't I Be You”
@Frutselen in the Margins watched one of my collages yesterday entitled “Watching the cat out of the tree” and I added a song “Love Cats” by The Cure. Then she asked if I could maybe make a collage to her favorite song from The Cure, “Why Can't I Be You” I also knew the song and knew that I also have another vinyl single in my collection somewhere. And sure enough, I found him. I was going to use this one in my collage anyway. Then I went to watch the song's video clip. I included certain elements that I saw in the video in this collage, such as the dracula, the eye, the mouth with the man in costume, a group of dancers that I found appropriate, because someone in the middle is the main character and the rest of the dancers are all the same. The hand with the blue U in it. It inspired me to put it together like this.
In the background, the somewhat dark disco atmosphere in the shade of purple, which you also see in the video.
“Why Can't I Be You” is a famous song by the British rock band The Cure. It was released as a single in 1987 and is from their album “Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me”.
The song's lyrics seem to be about longing for someone else and wanting to be just like that person. It expresses a sense of admiration and envy, where the singer longs for the traits or life of the person he is singing about. The song has a cheerful and danceable melody, but the lyrics have an underlying undertone of longing and jealousy.
