Also known as the Hemispheric agrocybe, the Common fieldcap is one of few that grows during the season of spring, appearing in groups in pastures, lawns and any other open areas with grass. They can easily be confused with other small brown mushrooms that are poisonous and look extremely similar. Toxicity: Although it is potentially non-toxic, the common fieldcap should be avoided by people who are less experienced with mushrooms. It is part of the LBM (Little Brown Mushrooms) group, so it is easy to misidentify and confuse it with numerous, poisonous LBMs. Habitat: The common fieldcap can be found in lawns, woodchips, pastures, coastal dunes and compost piles. They like to feed on dung and decomposing plant matter.
