The team behind 'Black Panther', the film with the first black superhero to appear in mainstream comics faces allegations by a British-Liberian artist who told her work was used without permission in Kendrick Lamar's released music video for 'All the Stars', a song from the film soundtrack.

Saturday Christopher Robinson, a lawyer to the artist Lina Iris Viktor, sent a letter to the mentor and head of Mr. Lamar, Anthony Tiffith of Top Dawg Entertainment, arguing a copyright infringement on the 24-carat gold pattern artworks in her series of paintings' Constellations'. Mr.s. Viktor had been contacted twice by the film's creators to get permission to show her work, the letter says, but she decided not to join. “Mrs Viktor's rights infringement is deliberate and blatant,” the letter says, adding that the artist is willing to “discuss a resolution of all her claims, consisting of a minimum of public apology for unauthorized use and licensing fees.” In a telephone interview, Ms. Viktor said, “Why would they do this? It's an ethical issue, because what the whole movie claims is that it involves black empowerment, African excellence, which is the whole concept of the story. At the same time they steal from African artists.”
