Corsica, day 2: Ajaccio, Napoleon's hometown.
3 July - Today we are moving to Ajaccio , the current capital of the island. (since 1811)
The city is the Napoleon Bonaparte's hometown , which lures a lot of tourists. His image and name pop up in countless places in the Old Town.
The strolling here often evokes the image of my visit to Nice: a port, an old town with a modern outer edge built against the hills, the many alleys, car-free streets with boutiques and cozy terraces, the soft colours of a Mediterranean city.

The city is located on the west coast, on Ajaccio Bay . Here are: a marina, a fishing port and a trading port, which merge into each other.
We park in the parking lot at the Quai l'Herminier 'and follow the signpost to the tourist information office, where we will find a detailed map of the city. (free)
