#politics The European Parliament and the Council of the EU (national governments) have reached a political agreement on the EU Covid Digital Certificate following a negotiating marathon. The document will allow, from 1 July, if all the procedures are met, to relax the control measures, so that those who are fully vaccinated, have just overcome the virus and have antibodies or have made a PCR should be able to move around the EU without further requirements.
The purpose is to allow mobility within the block and without having to undergo restrictions on anyone who is vaccinated against covid-19, has a negative test or has recently recovered from the disease. This is expected to mark a turning point in the pandemic by reviving tourism and avoiding the regulatory chaos that travellers faced last year, with different rules between countries and sometimes even between different regions of the same Member State.
