Orson Welles: “It's impossible to make a good film without a camera that's like an eye in the heart of a poet”.

Sometimes we watch movies without knowing everything that was behind them to take place, that is why interesting things take us through those little corners of the movies with quite interesting facts that make us better understand what it was like to record that footage and what was involved in everything, that's why I share some interesting facts about 3 films that I recently shared as a recommendation with their respective reviews in the war genre of the month of September.

Movies of the war genre

1917 (2019)

The photographer from Mauthausen (2018)

Dunkirk (2017)

  • The film is shot in two sequential shots but it looks like a sequence shot. They got this by making some cuts and hiding them with camera and editing tricks.
  • The actor Tom Holland was about to play Blake (the protagonist of the story) but finally this cannot be taken by a tight schedule.
  • The story is inspired by the director's grandfather. Alfred Mendes fought in the First World War and told several stories lived to his grandson Sam Mendes , during his childhood.
  • As the shots would be too long, the whole team had to prepare for 6 months before starting filming.
  • They depended on the climate factor. Almost the entire film is shot in a free environment. When it was very sunny they could not record what they did to practice and rehearse.
  • It is the first film in the history of the awards Oscars who is nominated for Best Film carrying only numbers in the title.
  • Some scenes were shot near a river. The producers had to put out several warning announcements so that people who were in the area would not be scared when they saw the bodies scattered around the place, which were actually just prostheses.
