Cutting silhouettes is fun to do! This classic art form remains a creative way to bring portraits and shapes to life.

As photography emerged, cutting silhouettes became increasingly popular. In the eighteenth century, this technique was seen as an affordable alternative to painted portraits, although it can be considered a bit old-fashioned today. What do you need?
To make a silhouette yourself, you need the following materials: a white sheet of paper and a black sheet of photo cardboard (at least 25 by 35 cm), a piece of hardboard measuring at least 30 by 40 cm (size and color of your choice, depending on how you want to hang the silhouette), cover tape, a stapler with staples, scissors, a pencil and glue. In addition, a white light bulb with a wide sphere is ideal, for example a desk lamp with a curved arm for optimal lighting.
