Day 4 of seven days of flowers

For my fourth flower, I am sharing an orchid.

These plants can really test your patient, they take so long to flower, but when they do they are not only beautiful but the flowers lasts for a long time.

I always find it funny, the different names that the same flower or plant can have. For example this orchid is known as the moon orchid, moth orchid or mariposa orchid.

I bought two at a Christmas market in 2021, I had no idea what colours they would be. They weren't even planted in a pot but rather in little bags, the man that sold them to me said all I had to do was hang them up in a spot with enough light and to water only about once a week.

Goodness, did it take long to flower, almost a whole year before I finally got to see what colour it was... as for the other one, it still hasn't flowered, but I do see what I hope is a stem forming, so I hope I will know by this Christmas what colour it is 😄

I always manage to kill orchids..... but the're so beautyful! So I sinds them to my parents, Who stem to specialise in blooming them 😊. Nice pictures!

@Encaustichris some people just have that special touch. I have a friend that has at least one of every colour, he is so specific with how he takes care of them, he won't even repot them until the pot it's in has completely broken!

een mooi exemplaar. De plant van mijn zus. Zij had alle vensterbanken ermee vol staan.
