Deadly Sins

Pride, greed, lust, anger, gluttony, envy and laziness are the seven passions of the soul that ecclesiastical tradition has set as “deadly sins”. Regardless of whether or not the idea of sin is valid in our societies, there are seven passions deeply rooted in the human psyche. Can we imagine the human being without them? Would the world be better if these inclinations didn't condition our attitudes?

From the first works of Western tradition to the most recent, deadly sins have been portrayed in multiple genres and through diverse perspectives. A variety that will be present throughout the course, in which there will be room for the literary, artistic, social and political ramifications of these passions.

Through seven young voices of Catalan essayistics, we will elaborate a multihedral reflection on human beings and their ambiguous relationship with evil and moral perfectionism. It is neither a question of claiming sins or condemning them, but of using them as a starting point for a thorough reflection on the human condition.
