THE WORLD'S LARGEST SHIP WILL BE OUT IN 2024! 😱
The world's largest cruise ship named “Icon Of The Seas” will depart in January 2024.
It will carry 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew members.
It is 5 times larger and heavier than the Titanic, weighing 250,800 tons, while the Titanic weighed 50,210 tons.
It has 19 floors with over 40 bars, restaurants and bowling alleys; it will have 6 slides, 7 pools and 9 hot tubs.
It promises more than 40 ways to dine, drink and entertain, many of which are included in the cruise fare.
Each ticket costs $1900 and up to $5K.
Cruise ships cause a lot of air pollution in port cities. For example, all cruise ships in the European Union emit as many sulphur oxides as one billion cars, it writes international news agency IPS . In addition, the ships are responsible for the emission of nitrogen oxides, which leads to asthma in children.
Now that the travel sector is back in full swing after the pandemic, the emission of disease-causing substances from cruise ships is also increasing again. “Tourist attractions like Barcelona and Athens are once again choking on toxic air pollution from cruise ships,” says Constance Dijkstra of the environmental think tank T&E.
Dijkstra advises port cities to take Venice as an example. There, a ban on large ships has reduced pollution by 80 percent. Other solutions can also help, says the environmental expert. “Ports can significantly reduce pollution levels by forcing ships to connect to electricity in port instead of running their engines, and by encouraging the introduction of zero-emission fuels.”
