Meanwhile it is 3 years ago, that we have been with our dogs at the dog swimming lake Ellertshaar in Schoonloo. This is located in a beautiful forest of Drenthe. Where dogs are allowed to walk loose all year round and there is a large swimming pool, where the dogs are allowed to swim. So this is a perfect getaway, which is fun for both the dog and the dog owner. In my opinion a guaranteed success, to enjoy nature together.

So also in the summer months your dog is welcome here, to cool down in the water together. Especially with the temperatures we had last summer, cooling is not a luxury for both humans and animals. The water here is very clean and they have enough places to sit in the shade, which is also very pleasant.

Our Matsi is really a beagle and unfortunately he cannot walk loose or swim. He really goes after his nose and then we can wait until he finally comes back to us. He will stay in our neighborhood, but we prefer not to take any chances in this way so as not to get unpleasant surprises. That is why he is always on a leash with us, yet we give him the freedom and at that moment we go after him. So our Matsi can fully enjoy a wonderful day at the water and he has a little feeling that he is free.

Diva found that water was only for drinking, but she never did swim. She was more of snooping and looking around and that can do you good here. If she was really too hot, then she walked her legs through the water to get a little cool, which they wanted. Despite the fact that the water is very clean, we always bring our own drinking water for the dogs. This way our dogs can also recover for a while from all the water fun and the smells that they smell around them.
