Domain name server (DNS) not available. What now?
DNS is short for Domain Name System and converts addresses to IP addresses. The DNS server is not responding notification may have multiple causes. If you see this notification, you will most likely not be able to open internet pages. What can you do about this?
1. Restart your modem or router
Sometimes a problem is very easy to fix, by restarting the modem or router. Turn it off for about a minute and then restart. This will rebuild your internet connection. Sometimes the modem's memory is full and that the internet connection stops working.
2. Restart your computer
You restarted the modem or router, but the issue still hasn't resolved? Then try to reboot your computer yourself. Your network card will then reconnect to the router.Â
3. IP address testing
If the two steps above didn't fix the problem, try typing the IP address of a website in your search bar. Where you normally type in an address to browse a website, tap the IP address there. It consists of 11 digits separated by points. If Google comes into the picture, something goes wrong when converting domain names to IP addresses. In that case, you can set up the DNS server on your network connection.Â
