Don't make up your expectations, my obligation.
Just because others expect something from you doesn't mean you should feel called to comply.
It is also not because you expect something from someone else that the other person should obey it indiscriminately.
I myself am not an overly Catholic, but during my son's preparation for Confirmation, the priest said the following. always follow your own inner voice, what that is, leading and the highest authority. Even the Catholic Church recognizes this as the highest power over the Pope and God himself.
After all, the divine is ingrained in your own conscience. And if we simply forget that this is due to baptism and confirmation, that is a VERY POWERFUL TRUTH.
So NEVER feel obliged to meet someone else's expectations, often against your inner voice. Why should you. when that's where the divine lies and this is the highest power in the world. Actually, I thought it was a comforting thought.

That's right, we shouldn't expect anything special from others, it's better to do good without looking at who, no matter that person thanks us, because then disappointment is stronger when we expect to receive glories from someone.
