The final episode was preceded by a one-hour retrospective, which celebrated the 177 episodes of the series, its characters and the cast, with tributes from fans around the world and scenes from the actors' final party. Creator David Shore recalled how he was inspired by British detective Sherlock Holmes and his faithful squire Dr. John Watson created by novelist Sir Arthur Conan Doyle more than 100 years ago. Laurie said playing House had been “an unforgettable part of my life”.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, House has been the most popular series on television, with an estimated audience of 81 million people in 61 countries.
