The weather had been wet for days. Particularly wet, and stormy. The news reports talked incessantly about flooded cellars and roads, and downgraded trees. Plus, it didn't look like it would ever end. The street was now blank, the sewer could no longer have been able to process the relentless stream of rainwater. The lawn in front of the house was increasingly burdened by the rising water load. Here and there, the blades of grass could barely get their top lifted above the water.

It just wasn't fair of Mom. She would have been able to go outside for a while. It wasn't that bad getting wet anyway.?
