dune area meijendel.

At the beginning of August I'll be in Leimuiden for a week with my mother. At a farm campsite we stay in a pipow agon. We also set out a day to visit the Meijendel dune area. I had read and heard a lot about that at b.v. the TV show Inside Out. We brought the bikes, because my mom can't walk that far anymore. There's not a lot of bike path, but we've put the bike down occasionally and have walked several small paths a bit. And that's how we were able to explore.

Well, you have to look closely. So this tree has a butterfly, it was that we saw it land, otherwise we would have missed it. What a camouflage.

It turns out to be a heather. I didn't expect it here. But when I read about the species at waarnemingen.nl it appears to be found in the dunes as well.

Unexpected Encounter.

If I want to photograph a beautiful three-thistle, I see something popping away over the ground. I quickly point my smartphone to the ground. Fortunately, the sand lizard stays seated for a while and it looks like the animal is looking at me for a moment.

Well, so this is that three-thistle. Liked it so much like the flowers crossed against the blue sky.

Of course I keep my eyes open if I see special butterflies. Along the path, the flowers are frequented by the orange sand eyes. A glider also looks for a spot. When I look for the species at home, it turns out to be a big long body.

A brown sand eye.

And a dotted moth (no idea which exactly, there are so many species)

And according to the obsidentify app, he's joined by a red collar bug.
