Ecosystem Restoration
How important is the restoration of ecosystems, since this favors the recovery of those ecosystems that have been degraded or destroyed, as well as the way to conserve those that are still intact. According to the Ecological Society for Restoration (SER), ecological restoration consists of the application of processes that allow the recovery of ecosystems that have been degraded, damaged and/or destroyed.

This has a practical approach that incorporates a wide variety of techniques and methodologies that allow the analysis and improvement of these ecosystems. The idea is to have healthier ecosystems, with richer biodiversity, providing greater benefits such as: more fertile soils, greater availability of resources such as wood or fish, and greater reserves of greenhouse gases.
Such a restoration can occur in a number of ways, among which are, for example, actively planting or eliminating pressures affecting nature so that it can recover on its own. Returning an ecosystem to its original state is not always possible or desirable. For example, we continue to need agricultural land and infrastructure on land that used to be forests, and ecosystems, like societies, must adapt to changing climate. All types of ecosystems can be restored, including forests, agricultural land, cities, wetlands and oceans. Almost anyone can launch restoration initiatives, from governments and development agencies to businesses, communities and individuals; this is because the causes of degradation are numerous and varied, and can have an impact on different scales. Another way to restore an ecosystem is to recover seeds and seedlings of native species are very valuable, so you have to look for them wherever they are. What are now small plants in a few years will be large trees accompanied by orchids and bromeliads, providers of shade and pampers of soil and water.
Defining and summarizing among the steps for ecological restoration we have -Define the ecosystem to be restored
-Assess the condition or damage

-Define scales and levels of organization -Establish the hierarchies of the riot -Incorporate community awareness and participation

-Evaluate the potential of ecosystem regeneration -Set barriers at different scales to restore

-Select the right species -Management and propagation of species

-Design restoration strategies -Process monitoring -Process Consolidation

Restoring ecosystems large and small protects and improves the livelihoods of the people who depend on them. It also helps control diseases and reduce the risk of natural disasters. In fact, restoration can contribute to the achievement of all the Sustainable Development Goals.
