People have always told us that education is perhaps the most vital component of our lives since we were children. Everyone from our neighbours to our parents pushed us to continue our education. Is education, on the other hand, necessary? It's important to note that when I say "education," I'm talking to higher education. Without a doubt, we require education through high school. But, after that, do we need formal education? It is an important topic to consider because a student pursuing higher education has a lot of responsibilities.
What is Success?
What does it mean to be successful? Is making a lot of money considered a success? Is living in a luxury villa on the beach in Malibu a premeditated success? Some may consider living like a Saudi royal, owning exotic animals, purchasing supercars, and having the opportunity to travel the world to be successful. All of the preceding instances might be considered the definition of success. Success is defined differently by each individual. Living a life that you are proud of and content with is, in my opinion, the true definition of success. Success can be defined by how far one has progressed from their starting point. As famous American-Canadian motivational speaker Brian Tracy once said, "Success is the ability to live your life, the way you want to live it, doing what you enjoy most, surrounded by people you admire and respect."
The Role of Education in Success
We can gain a sense of what success entails. So, what role does education play in achieving success? Education, in my opinion, plays only a minor part in reaching that achievement. I am not claiming that education has no value in our lives. I'm just suggesting that the result of obtaining a higher degree isn't worth it. For this very reason, higher education is over overvalued. I could give you hundreds of instances of people who have succeeded after dropping out of college. Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and Narendra Modi are just a few of the most well-known examples. "I don't have the talent to drop out of education and pursue my preferred vocation," you might think. Don't worry because I will go over this in more detail later in the article. There is a very popular adage that education does not guarantee success. It is the most straightforward path to success. I think I will be able to prove this statement wrong. If education were the quickest path to success, then everyone who attended university would have been successful.
Education Degree Vs Educated Mind
There is a big difference between a degree in education and a well-educated mind. The majority of individuals are unaware of this discrepancy. Even if a guy has a brilliant bachelor's degree, a master's degree, or even a PhD, he can still be the dumbest person on the planet. On the other hand, a person without a degree may have the best brain education. Most of the time, we judge people based on their educational attainment. Our society has an issue with this. For this sole reason, we can't value a sound mind. However, it is never too late to change this mindset. It is, however, never too late to change one's viewpoint. Most significant firms nowadays, such as Google, Metaverse, and Amazon, hire people who are just excellent in specific skills. A person with degrees will lose their job to someone with the right skills but no formal education. We no longer live in a time where people are validated solely based on a piece of paper by companies.
The Power of Hidden Talent
Every single person on the planet possesses some form of talent. People discover their abilities as early as childhood or later in life. The purpose of this statement is to motivate you to find your hidden gift. Explore various elements of life. Develop a variety of abilities. Don't just sit around in your house idling your time away. Get up and compose a list of your favourite activities. Make a career out of what you enjoy doing the most. If you find happiness making art, then make art out of everything. If you enjoy playing an instrument, you can damage guitar strings or tear out the keys on a piano by playing it. If you excel at sports, set the goal of practising harder than Cristiano Ronaldo. Unleash your hidden talent and tell the world about it. But keep in mind that everything takes time. If you want to become an expert at something, you must put in a lot of effort. Many people will mock you for pursuing your passion and forsaking traditional education, but don't be disheartened. Take inspiration from this and use it to help you discover your hidden gift. Talent can propel a person to new heights of accomplishment.
The Cost of University
Student debt is a big issue in practically every country on the planet, not just the United States. The enormous cost of college might wreck a student's life. I could give you some statistics regarding the severity of student debt, but I won't bore you with those facts. Everyone is aware of these figures, but if you happen to be living under a rock, I recommend that you google "Student Debt Crisis." Even attending an ivy league college costs a lot of money. So, consider this: is it necessary to pay a large sum of money merely to obtain a piece of paper known as a certificate?
Education and Mental Health
Another facet of education is its impact on our mental health. People often forget this aspect of colleges. People, on the whole, disregard their mental health, and combining education with mental health is a far-fetched concept. However, you may be astonished to learn that educational institutions are one of the leading causes of worry. This issue is not limited to colleges but also secondary schools. Anxiety can lead to depression and suicide. People frequently commit suicide as a result of the pressures of schooling. An educational institution forces a person to bear additional stress that they do not require. Professors place students in a dangerous mental state, starting with assignments and ending with exams. The worst part is that a student believes he is doomed to suffer from depression. He thinks that he must accomplish all of his institutional goals. However, there is still time to escape all of this unnecessary stress and follow the career of your dreams.
Should You Pursue Higher Education?
Let's go to the heart of the matter. Should you continue your education? So, here's the deal. If you desire to continue your studies, you can do so. You can go to college if you believe you can deal with the horrible side effects that come with it. Never assume, however, that college is the only path to success. It's the most common way, but it's never the only one. You have the freedom to do whatever you want and follow the career of your dreams at any time. There is no limit to how old you can be when it comes to chasing your aspirations. Even if you work nine to five in an office, keep in mind that you may always resign and start your own company. You can drop out of college and seek a career of your choice. Remember that no matter which path you take, there is no easy way out. Mark Zuckerberg may have dropped out of college and gone on to become a billionaire, but it was only possible because he put in the effort.
The goal of this blog is never to persuade you to skip college. My blog shows only a sample of the alternatives available to you even if you do not pursue formal higher education. This essay merely demonstrates how highly people overrate traditional education. Finally, the decision is yours to make. I've just shown a side of education that isn't particularly popular.
