I read the following article in De Limburger with the heading 'Not paid? And then I had to think back to what was going on at my children's school.

A few years ago, there was some fuss at the school where my kids were at the time. It turned out that there was a fuss with the voluntary parental contribution.Or rather with the non-payment of the voluntary parental fee by parents.I had 4 children in primary school at the time and since you had to pay 30 euros for 1 child I paid 120 euros a year in voluntary parental contribution. That was a big bite from my budget. Actually, I didn't have a budget if I'm honest. I really had to save to be able to put this down (and no, because of an ongoing divorce and a lot of hassle about that divorce, not eligible for a counter-deal, but that's a very long and tedious story and that's not what it's about now). Because I thought it was important for my children to be able to participate in the things that were organized at school, I had to do crazy tours to put this down and I wonderfully succeeded. After all, the kids didn't have to be the victims of the divorce I found and the annoying hassle of getting everything settled.

Back to the stuff with the parents who didn't pay a voluntary parental fee. I knew that at that school there were quite a lot of parents who were in the welfare and so didn't have it wide but what sketched my surprise. It wasI'M NOTthese parents who did not pay a voluntary parental fee (these parents knew just like me that it was coming and went to save for it or they knocked at organizations such as St. tuition and arranged this neatly). It was the parents who were two-earners who did not pay a voluntary parental contribution, and in percentage it was a figure of 20 - 25%. The people with permanent jobs, their own homes and who regularly went on holiday. I didn't know what I heard when I found out about this. There was no control on the collection of voluntary parental contributions and children were also not excluded (at least not at the time, then we are talking about about 3 or 4 years ago. I don't know what it's like at that school). So when I read the sentence: “Children from poor families are struggling enough. At school they should not suffer from the fact that their parents have affected it a little less.” Is it REALLY only about parents who have hit the net a little less?
