Elul, month of mercy.
Today in Judaism we celebrate Rosh Khodesh beginning of the month. The Month of Elul, is the sixth month of the biblical yearbook, (and the twelfth month the Jewish tradition), this is one of the months in which our people intensify their prayers, study the Torah and help others (Tzedakáh).
This month the people of Israel's relationship with the Creator intensifies. It is a time to internalize in each of the actions and return to the paths of the Torah.
Elul marks a period of forty days called: Days of Teshuvah, from the first of Elul to the 10th of the month of Tishré (Day of Yom Kipur or day of atonement for our sins), Moses climbed Mount Sinai to seek forgiveness from D-os due to the problem of the golden calf and receive the second boards as the first were broken.
Since Moses came up until he descended, forty days passed, and after those forty days Moses under one day of Kipúr with the second tables and forgiveness on the part of the Creator.
This is the sixth month of the biblical yearbook and is the one that precedes the seventh month called: Tishré. A month where the judgment of the Eternal is pronounced for all his creation (on the day of Rosh Hashanah — Head of the Year, or the day of Yom Terua — Day of Trumpets). After announcing this ruling, it is sealed on the day of Yom Kipúr — Day of Atonement of Sins. Vayikra Leviticus 23
That is why before the day of judgment comes the Eternal sends the month of mercy, as the verse says: “The Eternal is close to all who invoke Him with truth” and it is also written: “Seek the Eternal in the moment he may be found”.
Elul is the preparation that serves as a prelude to the day of judgment where all creation will be before the Creator and held accountable for his actions. And where it will be decided what will be the livelihood, life, health and blessings that everyone will enjoy for a year.
Month of Repentance
The month of Elul is the most favorable time to return to the Eternal, but first before we receive forgiveness from Heaven we must first resolve the outstanding faults with our neighbor.
Since the Creator is merciful and forgives those faults we commit against Him, but the faults we make against our neighbor must be done everything necessary to compensate and make restitution for the harm or offense caused. As the hierarchical order of prayer established by Yeshua the Messiah says, when he said: “HaShem will forgive your offenses in the same way that you forgive the offenses that are done to him by others”.
