I was privileged to be part of several seminars organized jointly with the European Union, United Nations Population Fund, Efip, and Faces, of the Economics Seminars, and Public Policy Seminar in which we hosted.

This Faculty at Central University has a great story to tell.

With the conviction that the country needed and would need to an increasing degree of scientific and technical input, people trained to understand the laws of the economy, the interrelations derived from them and the alternatives and possibilities that open up for the solution of the complex problems that arise in the field from the social sciences doctors José Joaquín González Gorrondona and Arturo Uslar Pietri, applied for the competition of Tito Gutiérrez Alfaro, specialist in labor law, and José Joaquín Ron, specialist in Administrative Law, to create the Free School of Economic and Social Sciences.

The aforementioned doctors send a communication to the rector of the UCV, expressing interest in creating the Free School of Economic and Social Sciences.

On November 17, 1938, in the former San Francisco headquarters, the school began operation with twenty students and four professors, with a program composed of nine chairs combined with seven from the Faculty of Law and culminating in the selected Bachelor and Doctorate Degree.

He was elevated to the Faculty on November 17, 1940. The management train of the young Faculty was made up of Dr. José Joaquín González Gorrondona, Dean who held this post ad-honorem for 10 years, Dr. José Antonio Mayobre, Head of the Department of Economics and Dr. Luis Cabana, head of the Department of International Studies.

FACES moved from San Francisco to Ciudad Universitaria in 1951, without its own headquarters, and occupies student housing premises. In September 1956 he was assigned the south wing of the building of the Faculty of Humanities and three floors of the Faculty of Architecture.

In 1977, the modern building that serves as its main headquarters was inaugurated, using the old residences and the Transbordo building to advance its academic activities.

The Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences is currently composed of seven schools: Economics, Administration and Accounting, Anthropology, Statistics and Actuarial Sciences, International Studies, Sociology and Social Work; the Institute for Economic and Social Research “Rodolfo Quintero”; the Commission for Postgraduate Studies , CEAP the Center for Professional Extension, CEP and the Academic Computing Center.

Fourteen were the first graduates of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences in 1942: Antonio Moisés Alvarado, Jesús E. Angulo Urdaneta, Regulo Briceño Bastidas, Humberto Cardenas Becerra, Oscar Delepiani Gilly, Luis Cornelio Hueck, Salvador Lairet, José Rafael Liccioni, Bernabé Llovera, Sósimo Molina, Rafael Padron, José Padron Irazábal, Hector Santaella and Enrique Tejera Paris.

Enrique Tejera Paris, who was a Venezuelan politician, lawyer and diplomat, came out of this prestigious faculty in his first promotion.
I belong to the Democratic Action Party. Domingo Alberto Rangel Bourgoin was a Venezuelan politician, economist, university professor, journalist and writer. He was a columnist in various newspapers.
