This girl makes me feel so incredibly humble at times.

One day she wants children: two, three, four, or maybe five, but then they all have to learn to listen carefully. If you have disobedient children, it's really hard work!

Yes, having kids is something she wants most of all. Not only when she's thirty, no, Alanis prefers to want her right now. Luckily she understands that just can't, so she'll wait for her to be at least 18.

She regrets that Arinde was born when she was only four. So much she would have worn her, gave her bottles, wiped asleep and diapers changed.
There are no more sisters or brothers, and that's pretty tricky if you love to mumble so much.

I have to make sure she doesn't take over my role, because she likes to take care of her little brother and sister. If they're all allowed to play outside, it's Alanis who keeps things together.

Sometimes she just comes to me for a little cuddle. No matter how big she is, she crawls on my lap and puts her head on my shoulder.
That's how we start the day every morning: when she's awake and gets dressed, she comes to give a crop first.

She's so big already..so damn big.. Nine years “only”, but she's in her doing and leaving so big. In development so much further, so far that I wonder if she doesn't forget to be 'child'. And then she crawls back on my lap and I know it's good.

This afternoon, when the grass was mowed, she came to me with a bottle of ice-cold beer, for herself she had brought a bottle of 'shandy'.
“Mom,” she said, “yesterday was such a really nice day! The bakery passed by, our stuff got delivered and we've been on an adventure!”
“You really enjoyed it, didn't you?”
“Yes, but we all love to go on an adventure.”
“And then your toys! I love seeing you so happy.”
“Could we ever order again?”
“Probably Alaantje, I'm sure. But hey, shall we take a look at the carriage one more time - just a little more adventure?”
“Really?!?! That will be a lot of fun!”
We toast on it - me with my ice-cold beer, she with her 'shandy'.
