European Nature Restoration Act approved by member states: An important step towards sustainability
On an historic day for the European Union, the member states have finally reached their endorsement given to the long-awaited European nature restoration law . Although Belgium abstained, the law was approved, marking an important milestone in joint efforts to protect and restore the environment.

What is the European Nature Restoration Act?
The European Nature Restoration Act, also known as the Nature Restoration Law, is an ambitious legislative measure aimed at restoring natural habitats and ecosystems across the European Union. The law is designed to combat the deterioration of biodiversity and promote sustainable development. Key goals of this Act include:
- Ecosystem restoration : Repairing at least 20% of the degraded land and sea beds by 2030.
- Biodiversity protection : Strengthening populations of endangered species and improving biodiversity.
- Increased resilience : Increasing the resilience of ecosystems to climate change and other threats.
