Anyone who knows me a little bit knows that I am very interested in history. So I also found it very interesting when I got my hands on a picture of my great-great-great-grandparents at the mother's side, with a very young great-grandmother in the photo as well (the girl with the cross above her head, named Marie Meurice).
She was born in 1888, so this picture dated from somewhere late 19th, I think.
The first names of my great-great-great-grandparents, unfortunately I haven't figured out yet. but that may still come with time.
Through a bit of searching, I have now found out that my roots are partly in the Netherlands and partly in France. and it all came together in Flanders.
The furthest back that I know is that in 1587 a certain Wilhelmus Bemelmans from Limburg in the Netherlands married a lady from my native village (which, by the way, was also the Netherlands at the time).
Anyway, I thought it was unique to have a picture of at least two of my great-great-great-great-grandparents and put a face on it.

This is fantastic, I also love to know about my roots. As per as I know, my great-grandmother on my mother's side was from Spain, my other great-grandmother was from Belgium, and my great-grandfather was from Italy (I was born in Argentina with Argentinean parents).

great hey that picture!! I do have some old photos of my grandma and grandpa. But never delved into the family history.

in reality until now I have not been concerned with investigating the family roots, I had the opportunity when my parents were alive but I didn't, my older sister and brother do know a little about that tree but there is no depth

It is beautiful to know about our ancestors our descendants from where we come from who are our great-great-grandparents where do they come from what their legacy is

Stuffing out your family tree is quite an exciting activity in itself. Many do that these days. Sometimes it's really hard to get that old data out. But church archives in particular can play an important role in this.

It is beautiful to be able to know the history of our ancestors. I at least know that my maternal great-grandfather comes from spanish

Nice such an old photo. I don't know how long my family history goes back. But I know that my brother-in-law likes to delve into this and I would be able to find it back.
