#Wachtwoorden are too easy to crack, even with special characters. Although complex passwords are better than simple passwords, passwords are still crackable. In addition, complexity (and with it strength) of passwords is at odds with their memorabilibility. The U.S. Federal Police Department, FBI, has the security advice that length is much more important and that passphrases must therefore take over passwords.

“We all use passwords. We use them for our phones, our computers, our e-mail, and pretty much every other kind of personal account. Unfortunately, many people use simple passwords, such as “Password1” or “1234”, because they are easier to remember,” writes the FBI in a press release on digital defense, in the context of the US presidential election. “Some people even reuse the same simple password for multiple accounts.”
