Fifty shades of green... Our trip through Iceland, day 15: Svartifoss, Fjadrárgjüfur and Lady Aurora.
It promised to be a wonderful day, and we were happy about that, because we wanted to go to Svartifoss.
Svartifoss is a waterfall in your interior of Iceland, the water comes from the large Vatnajökul glacier.
It's in the National Park, so that meant paying a parking fee for us.
It is highly recommended to do this via the Parka app, but we did not have one, so we paid online, by credit card, as usually in Iceland.
Parking costs were around 5 euro (summer 2022).
And the northern lights. yes really beautiful and a dream!
I know that: 'only' 5 km can be done. Only 5 km on steep roads is a waste of time ! That also takes a lot longer. But every climb also has a decline. (although it's not good for the knees either !) Surely the night was your reward for the effort. :-)
And yes, drone footage always makes something look more spectacular than from the ground.
And another reward: the northern lights!. A perfect day!!
