Fifty shades of green... Our trip through Iceland: Encaustichris and the obsessive Obsidian Seekers...
Today, from Loa's nest, we're looking for Obsidian (Hrafninnusker in Icelandic).
Obsidian is a semi-precious stone, also called lava glass.
It occurs because lava solidifies under great pressure and is so hot that the sand melts.
Obsidian is black in color, and I love it.
During our first summer trip to Iceland, I found it, in Landmannalaugar, where a stream runs.
