New Zealand has recently submitted a possible change of flag to a referendum, tired of confusing theirs with that of Australia, a neighboring country and with a very similar flag.

New Zealand has a blue background, with Union Jack in the upper left corner and four stars of the constellation Southern Cross on red background with white border.

The Australian one has a blue background, with Union Jack in the upper left corner and five stars of the South Cross and another star under Union Jack.

Proposals for change were varied and finally, the one faced in the final referendum was also a blue cloth with a silver fern and the Southern Cross. Finally, the result of the referendum was favorable to the lifelong flag.
