McLaren Racing would come as the result of the purchase of Mercedes-EQ Formula E team following a deal between McLaren and Mercedes-Benz. McLaren Racing will join seven other manufacturers in a 12-team, open-wheel, fully electric Series for the Generation 3 era, including DS Automobiles (France), Jaguar (UK), Mahindra Racing (India), Maserati (Italy), NIO 333 (UK & China), Nissan (Japan) and Porsche AG (Germany). From the 2015/16 Formula E season onwards, the Series will be joined by eight manufacturers, who are re-engineering and building their own SRT_01E-powered cars.
Porsche
For Porsche AG (Germany), it is a massive vote of confidence that Michael Andrettis Formula E Team has decided to partner with Porsche starting in Season 9 onwards, and wants to field two Porsche 99x Electric race cars. The team fielded two Porsche 99X Electric race cars in the last race of the season -- with driver Pascal Wehrlein (GER/#94 ), who claimed Porsches first Formula E win of the year in Mexico City, as well as with teammate Andre Lotterer. Andre Lotterer is entering the third season with ROKiT Venturi Racing, driving the Porsche together with countryman Pascal Wehrlein, with the duo fighting for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Stoffel
Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne heads into his fourth ABB FIA Formula E World Championship campaign with Mercedes-EQ, having helped Mercedes-EQ to a team world championship with driver champion Nyck de Vries in season seven. Last season saw Nyck de Vries take his maiden world championship with a Mercedes-EQ Formula E car, while the team was also top of the teams championship thanks to contributions from Dutch racer and teammate Stoffel Vandoorne.
Mercedes
Mercedes ended Generation 2 of the championship, and Mercedes Formula E commitment, with consecutive Drivers and Team Championships. The anniversary was also a final, as it marked the 100th running in Formula E history at Seoul. On Sunday, the eighth season of the worlds first electric race series came to a close at Formula E Seoul.
Formula E kicks off the 2019 season 9 in Mexico with its inaugural race on Jan. 14. When the lights turn green, Formula E will field 22 all-new cars promising tight races and speeds in excess of 200mph.
ABB FIA
Having joined the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for Season 3, Andretti Formula E heads into their fifth campaign in the series, armed with their brand new Generation 2 Jaguar I-Type 5, piloted by Sam Bird and Mitch Evans. Invision Racing has been competing in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship since its inaugural campaign in 2014/15, and is one of only two British teams--alongside Jaguar TCS Racing--in the series. Lucas di Grassi won Formula Es first ever race at Beijing in Abt 2014.
BMWi
Jake Dennis won both races for the BMW i Andretti Motorsport team, which helped secure the third place of the world championship. Andre Lotterer followed him across the line for second, making a clinch perfect for Porsche at their third Formula E race of the season.
Jaguar
In Mitchs second season at Jaguar Racing, Mitch, who is widely considered to be one of the fastest drivers on the grid, secured a number of firsts for Jaguar Racing, including superpole, pole position, and a podium. An emotional Season 7 saw Mitch take fourth place on the drivers standings, Mitchs highest finish to date.
Gen3 DS
The race has learned the team is certainly not competing in Formula Es next first season of Gen3. DS has confirmed it is joining forces not only with Penske Autosport to form a DS Penske Formula E team, but that two-time champion Jean-Eric Vergne and defending title winner Stoffel Vandoorne will be racing for the team in 2023. Boasting a staggering career podium percentage of 48.9% and 66 race wins, Nick Cassidy has achieved all this at just the age of 25, and is now beginning a new chapter at Envision Virgin Racing Formula E Team starting from the 2020/2021 season.
In his first Formula E season, Nick Cassidy helped Envision Virgin Racing win 2 podiums and 2 pole positions, while finishing in 15th on the drivers standings, showing that he was one of the best newcomers during the season. With Nick Cassidy being spotted by a number of international teams, it was Envision Virgin Racing who saw his real potential and offered him a test drive of their Formula E All-Electric cars at their championship debut testing session back in March 2020 at Marrakesh. Overall, Sebastien Buemi has 13 Formula E wins to his name, and he will be racing for the Nissan e.dams squad once more in 2022.
Winner
A race winner every season in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Sam Bird is embarking on what is expected to be a long-overdue maiden drivers title, as Sam Bird embarks on the final campaign in the purely electrical road racing series. Heading into Pascal Wehrleins fourth season in the championship, and his second with ROKiT Venturi Racing, the German will sense that the time is right for him to secure Porsches first ever Formula E win. Racing for TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, Pascal Wehrlein will get an excellent chance to break his duck at race victories in 2022, having achieved just two pole positions and one podium so far.
