Free Guy is a science fiction, comedy and action film released in the same year 2021. It is directed by Shawn Levy and stars Ryan Reynolds, with the rest of the cast being Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Joe Keery and Taika Waititi.

Synopsis: Guy works as a bank teller, every day he is happy and lonely but nothing makes his day bitter. Even if he is used as a hostage during a robbery of the place where he works, he keeps smiling like nothing. But one day he realizes that Free City isn't exactly the city he thought. Guy is going to discover the different secrets that lie behind the game.

Despite its one-year delay due to the pandemic due to COVID19, Free Guy has arrived this year and it has been a pleasant and unexpected surprise, personally I was waiting a lot for this new film as seen in the trailer that caught my attention. I managed to see it recently and it seemed like a very entertaining film, which without being something from the other world manages to easily capture the attention of the viewer and easily focuses us on the story and as a result gets us into it, it is mostly a film made especially for video game fans because you will find some references but still If you are not a big fan of video games I know you will enjoy it by its subtle message. No doubt game lovers will find some references.

Free Guy does not have a complete but elaborate story that makes it enjoyable and digestible. This plot has certain characteristics with 'The Truman Show' but despite this, Free Guy has its own style entering the world of video games with a lot of humor and action sequences that I'm sure you'll enjoy, it won't be a waste of time and worth watching.

The performances are quite acceptable, we have as the protagonist Ryan Reynolds in a role that full of charisma and a lot of encouragement, without a doubt good Ryan does not disappoint us, in every role he plays continues to grow in the industry since his career is at an all-time high. In fact, it's perfect for this movie because of its crowded humor and action scenes. It's not a complicated role but if you have to have a certain charisma, humor, joy and confidence as an actor to play it.

The actors who are secondary also have their good moments, we have Jodie Comer with a very good role that I liked, but without a doubt the one that caught my attention the most was the role of Taika Waititi as villain of the story and well of the others little more to say because they are normal performances. The film has countless cameos of players and streamers such as Jacksepticeye, Ninja, Pokimane, DanTDM and LazarBeam, not to mention famous actors like Chris Evans, Channing Tatum, this really gives it a plus.

One important thing about the film is that it not only relies on video game references but also cares about the story and its main message; and it doesn't make the same mistake as other movies like 'Space Jam 2' which was only based on showing character references and leaving the story in the background, but Free Guy rescues that by doing the complete and well-developed story. Adding that it has good effects and this is important because of the plot it handles, so the visual experience does not leave it to duty but fulfills.

In short, Free Guy has seemed to me an entertaining film in its entirety, not that it is a work of art but of the films that deal with video games it has been one of the best films I have seen for its good handling of the footage, which I am sure will be among the best films of the year. Fully recommended, you won't be disappointed.
