From Dancer, Singer and Actor to Professional Masseur
From Dancer, Singer and Actor to Professional Masseur
With an Unwind relaxation massage you can really relax. We're going to work together to make sure you relax deeply. A massage is very meditative. When a client comes with me on a journey, through breathing, for example, we're both working to bring relaxation to a place where there's too much tension.
My massages activate four senses: feeling is of course central. But also smell: there is an oil burner or incense burning. The massage takes place in a soothing room with candles. And hear: there is relaxing music, for example from singing bowls.
In the thirty years that I have played as a singer, dancer and actor in dozens of Dutch theaters, I have always given massages. When I was 19, I went to a Fame school in New York to learn the theatre profession. I also took a short course in New York to give massages and that became my side job. Back in the Netherlands, during theatre productions, fellow actors came to me and said: Oh, can you massage my shoulders? I also massaged my physiotherapist once and he said: go get an education in it, you have a talent for it! Another therapist I came to every now and then said, “You've got healing hands.”
I gave intuitive massages so far. Last year I studied and I graduated with praise as a masseur after the exam by the Dutch Examenstichting in Sport- & Perimedische Healthcare. In this training I learned anatomy and physiology, but also oriental philosophy and meridian teaching. With this theoretical basis, for example, I can apply grips just a little better, which is good for the muscles and blood flow.
Prior to your massage, I ask if you are bothered by something: do you have a specific complaint or do you have tensions that we can lift?
