If you like to visit historic towns, you should definitely stop by Garachico, on the northwest coast of the Canary Island of Tenerife.

It lies at the foot of a high cliff and is built around a cozy square, where you will find, among other things, a church, a 'palacio' and a monastery.



Ideally located due to natural inlets, the port was busy trading wine and sugar until a volcanic eruption of the Trevejo in 1706 almost wiped the town off the map.
