Garachico, once Tenerife's most important port.
If you like to visit historic towns, you should definitely stop by Garachico, on the northwest coast of the Canary Island of Tenerife.
It lies at the foot of a high cliff and is built around a cozy square, where you will find, among other things, a church, a 'palacio' and a monastery.
Ideally located due to natural inlets, the port was busy trading wine and sugar until a volcanic eruption of the Trevejo in 1706 almost wiped the town off the map.
