Garden rangers in the Netherlands
What great news! The Garden Rangers are now also starting in the Netherlands! 🌱🌿 As an enthusiastic garden ranger, I am very happy that this great initiative is reaching our northern neighbors. Although the project in my municipality will stop soon, I am extremely enthusiastic that Dutch municipalities are now also getting the opportunity to participate in this inspiring adventure.
Garden rangers are volunteers with a passion for the garden and a heart for nature. They help municipalities become more climate-resilient by transforming residents' gardens and enhancing biodiversity. Steenbreek and IVN are joining forces with a community of Garden Rangers to support municipalities and garden owners in greening and raising awareness of its importance.
The Garden Rangers project is a great success in Flanders and from now on, Dutch municipalities can also join the 2025 pilot. 42 Flemish municipalities are already active with Garden Rangers and the results speak for themselves: more than 7,500 garden owners have already received advice to make their gardens future-proof.
