Late at night. The park was half-empty. Rather somber. Too lonely. Why would anyone want to be there?
Sitting on a bench was a young couple. Teenagers. Snuggled in each other because of the cold. If anyone passed them, they would think they had been together since diapers. Giggling and monkeying around. Nothing too much. He wasn't trying to sneak his hands between her legs, nor she was trying to do the same.
Tyler and Destiny.
Eventually, they got up and strolled past the swings, where usually they could be found. Not today though. They wanted to do different things. They had decided to go to eat some burgers instead and to continue their walk around Central Park. To admire the view, to feed the pigeons too.
They were walking. Walking and talking. Until she stopped and so he did.
"Hey, why did you stop?", he asked.
She had no time to answer him. Because her answer was riskier. If anyone had told her a year ago that she would man up and kiss a cute boy, she wouldn't have believed them.
She leaned in quickly and placed her lips on his, her arms making their way around his neck.
Poor Tyler! He had been caught unprepared. Destiny didn't know that was his first kiss. His first ever.
"Was it your first one?", He asked her, when they broke apart. She shook her head and kissed him again, her arms still wrapped around his neck. Her second first kiss.
None of them would forget the kisses they'd shared in the park that night. A moment too intimate for someone aged fifteen-sixteen.
Destiny was too lovestruck to talk to her father about Tyler. She thought he wouldn't understand or worse - that he could forbid her to date him. She knew how much he wanted her to be friends with Riley and her gang. Who knew? What if he pressured her into dating or getting closer with Lucas, Zay or Farkle? Isadora was already dating him and as far as Destiny had heard, Maya, Lucas and Riley had formed a love triangle not a long time ago.
Drama.
Not what she needed.
Though at the same time she did. She needed more excitement in her life. She needed to know more about the world. But that was not a reason why she was dating Tyler.
On the next night, at the dinner at Matthews' , she was afraid that Riley could slip up and mention something about Tyler.
While listening to Auggie, Riley's younger brother, Destiny felt being nudged. She was about to hiss, but it was just Riley. She made a sign with her hands, showing her she wouldn't reveal the secret. Destiny smiled, showing a thumb from underneath the table cloth. If the adults had seen them, they would have thought it was just teenage stuff.
Little did they know Matthews had seen them.
