Glyphosate is one of the most toxic things we've done to the world: it kills bees, poisons entire ecosystems -- and it's found in diapers!! But in a few weeks, Europe could finally ban this deadly pesticide. The European Commission wants to extend the authorisation of the controversial pesticide glyphosate on the European market by ten years. On Tuesday, the Commission sent its intention in a proposal to member states, which will discuss the plan for the first time on Friday and will take a final decision in mid-October. Should the EU countries agree by a large majority, glyphosate will remain temporarily allowed in the European Union.

It's one of the most toxic things ever produced on Earth, with horrific health effects. The pesticide, which has even been found in diapers, can lead to pregnancy problems, and prominent research suggests that this substance increases the risk of certain cancers by more than 40 percent!

Glyphosate, the main component of, among others, the widely used weed killer Roundup, is massively used in agriculture, but has also been controversial for years. In a few weeks, we'll have a unique opportunity to ban this poison forever. Everything depends on one round of voting in the European Council -- and major pesticide companies are doing everything they can to lobby politicians and secure their profit margins. We must not stand by helplessly. Let us urge our legislators to vote for the most ambitious ban. Sign and share it anywhere!
