Grow chicory in the classroom.
Growing chicory (or chicory) is a process that takes place in two phases: first root cultivation in the open ground and then forcing (letting the chicory head grow) in a dark environment. Below you can read the steps to grow chicory:
1. Carrot cultivation

Sow seeds :
- Sow chicory in the open ground in spring, ideally in April or May. Choose well-drained, loose soil.
- Make trenches about 1 cm deep and sow the seeds at a distance of 1-2 cm apart.
- Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil and water.

Plant care :
- Keep the soil moist but not too wet.
- Remove weeds around the plants so as not to hinder growth.
- After about 4-5 months, towards the end of the summer, the roots are big enough to be harvested.
