The Guaire River is a short river of Venezuela, one of the tributaries of the Tuy River and the main waterway of the Caracas Valley. Its length is 72 km. It is born at the confluence of the San Pedro and Macarao rivers, in a place called Las Adjuntas, and crosses the city of Caracas in a southeastern direction.

Before the twentieth century, the river was not polluted, besides it was the source of water for all inhabitants. At the end of the 19th century, during the administration of President Antonio Guzmán Blanco, he provided Caracas with sewers and sewers, but ordered that the Guaire River be used as the main sewage route of the city's sewage.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, the Guaire River has been in an ecologically worrying situation, as it is the main sewage route in the Venezuelan capital.

The natural fauna of the Guaire river basin, like the flora on its banks, is highly modified, non-existent due to alarming pollution, or very restricted in the highest and most isolated areas of the basin.
