I don't really consider myself a Catholic person and I don't really have much to do with the institution “the church”. I do consider myself religious to a certain extent, but that is another story. Today, however, I would like to take a moment to reflect on Holy Mary, mother of all of us.
As a little girl, my grandmother kept telling me the story of Mary's appearance in Lourdes and taught me the song. I even had a statue of Bernadette kneeling on the mountain in front of Maria that could excite you so that you heard the melody of that song 'to Lourdes appeared on a mountain in a cave. “I was quite fascinated by this story.
With age, I turned more to the spiritual and lost the already shaky connection I had with the Catholic faith. After all, we were not that religious at home, and in my youthful naivety, I thought that these two streams could not go together. It wasn't until later that I found out that one does not necessarily rule out the other.
As a young single mother with 2 little girls at the time, however, I often entered into a conversation with the mother, all mothers in despair. I prayed to her for protection for myself and my girls, for insights, for strength. and somehow she heard me. I found the strength and was able to handle it,. I survived. By the way, the beautiful song by The Beatles also expresses the comfort and strength I found by putting my concerns to her.
My connection with other saints is almost nil, but as a mother and wife I find a connection with the Holy Mary somewhere. and that's why I just want to say today. BE GREETED MARIA.
And although I am from Limburg myself, for all Antwerp mothers. Happy Mother Day.
The story witch,
