When you see the beautiful cover of Halfweg by Puck de Klerk, you don't immediately get an idea what to expect from the book. The title makes you curious about the book.
Halfweg van Puck de Klerk was written from Lau. Her twin brother committed suicide and she wants to know why he committed suicide. Gradually, there are more and more thoughts and more questions, more and more memories about their childhood, but she is also increasingly suffering from feelings of guilt. Unfortunately, the questions are all being brushed aside, people are trying to sweep the truths under the table. Clearly, she'd better stop asking tough questions if she wants to keep fitting in. Slowly, it becomes increasingly clear and it appears that there are a number of secrets in the family that people would rather not talk about for various reasons. It is also increasingly clear why Lau's twin brother became increasingly strange and why he was so suspicious. The question is whether Lau could have helped her twin brother or not. Meanwhile, Lau and her sister are worried that what Sal had could be hereditary. Various questions are asked, such as why one person continues to die and the other, who has experienced much the same thing, finds the courage to move on with life and tries to leave the past behind.
