Healthy food drink are essential for survival and the collection and preparation of food and drink consumes a large part of our daily lives and encompasses a large part of the economy. People have become accustomed to easy access to processed foods. Although the concept of food used to be "eat to live", now "life to eat".
Among other things, this philosophical change seems to be associated with an increase in the size of the American population. The comfort with which food can be obtained, the variety of food choices, the speed of both production and processed foods all contributed to the growth of the waist and the decline in healthy food prices. As of 2010, about 66% of adults over the age of 20 are overweight. Diabetes and childhood obesity are on the rise. Is it possible in this world of fast food and processed foods to live to eat without obesity, raise our cholesterol levels and increase our risk of diabetes?
Healthy eating in the new century is easier than ever. Instead of turning to processed foods and beverages, buying high-fat foods or sugary snacks people can use modern markets to opt for healthy foods and beverages. The practice of healthy eating is widespread. Grocery stores now offer a lot of fresh snacks, cooked meals, energy drinks and even post easily recognizable nutritional information. Fast food chains are now cooking with healthy fats, eliminating saturated fats, providing low-calorie foods and providing sugar-free beverages to baby food. Farmers' markets that offer new local products can be found in many cities. All of these changes happen quickly and therefore an update on what a healthy diet and drink may be needed for the benefits to be realized across the community.
Most people are familiar with U.S. guidelines. about proper nutrition whether the knowledge of the four basic food groups or familiarity with the food pyramid. Advances in research have led the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Office of Health and Labor to review the guidelines for healthy eating. These guidelines will now be reviewed every five years. The new guidelines will be published on April 20, 2010 based on the latest research. The old guidelines recommended four food groups and the people who ate them changed. There are now six food groups and the recommendations are not made based on the specific sizes of each food supply, but on a dense nutrient system. Recommendations are made for special groups including children, women, those over the age of 50 and even those who eat vegetables or other special foods.
New food groups are: cereals, vegetables, fruits, milk, meat and beans, oil and calories of choice. Currently the department recommends that a healthy diet include plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and dairy products with low or no fat. Add but moderately the lean meat, fish, beans, eggs and nuts. Reduce saturated fat, cholesterol, salt and extra sugar.
Healthy foods everywhere include nutritious foods from a variety of food groups. Emphasis on colorful vegetables and fruits, reducing animal protein intake and using less fat. Diversity and personality in food are important. No two people have the same nutritional needs; each should check his eating plan and adjust accordingly.
