Hedgehogs with wooden spines

What a pity, that you can't keep real hedgehogs as a pet! That is understandable, of course, because they areprotected animals, they really belong in nature. Unfortunately, they are threatened by humanity, namely by thetraffic, agricultural and horticultural venom, but also by thefox. So we have to be economical on our hedgehogs!
By the way, did you know that a real hedgehog has about 6,000 spines on his back? These crafted hedgehogs have “only” 200 wooden cocktail sticks as spines, pricked on a half styropor (styrofoam or polystyrene) egg. Of course, half the egg is first painted with brown acrylic paint, then you can pierce the sticks in rows. An easy job, but not for the youngest children.
Real hedgehogs areinsectivores, but they actually eat all kinds of things, what they encounter. For example, snails, worms, frogs, lizards, moles, young mice, fruits and mushrooms. I find that quite surprising! And the funny thing is, when they eat at night, they make quite a lot of noise! They can pry pretty hard, sniff loudly and taste. So they don't really have table manners!
