Tregua Navideña

Un suceso histórico tuvo lugar en la navidad de 1914,
durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, una serie de cese al fuego no oficial que se extendió hasta el frente occidental en la navidad de ese año.


Soldados Franceses, Alemanes y Británicos se unieron y cruzaron las trincheras enemigas para intercambiar saludos y conversaciones estacionales, hubo intercambio de comida, souvenir, ceremonias funerarias conjuntas, intercambio de prisioneros, cantos de villancicos e inclusive, se disputaron partidos de fútbol entre los bandos.


Estas treguas navideñas fueron importantes por la cantidad de hombres involucrados y el nivel alto de participación, a menudo se veía como un símbolo de paz y humanidad en medio de una de las guerras mas violentas de la historia.


Aproximadamente 100.000 soldados Franceses y Alemanes se unieron al cese informal de hostilidades a lo largo de todo el frente occidental.


Lamentablemente, en los siguientes años, 1915 y 1916, los soldados ya no estaban tan dispuestos a la tregua, ya había transcurrido mucho en la guerra, gracias las devastadoras perdidas durante la batalla de Somme y Verdun, y la utilización de gas venenoso.
