Hormonal contraception increases the likelihood of breast cancer.

I came across this article and despite the fact that this research is a few years old I want to share this important article from Medical File. This shows that lifestyle/nutrition most likely also affects the risk of getting breast cancer: #Hormonale contraception increases the likelihood of #borstkanker - Yes.
The #anticonceptie increases the risk by about 20 percent, and some risks persist even five years after stopping.
Women who used hormonal contraceptives for a year or less — including non-oral drugs, such as the #hormoonspiraaltje (also known as IUS) — are 9 percent more likely to have breast cancer, but this increases by 38 percent in women who used hormonal contraception for more than 10 years.
Researchers from the University of Copenhagen followed the health of 1.8 million women for nearly eleven years. During that period, 11,517 women received breast cancer. The researchers found that women who used a form of contraception were more likely than women who did not. The risk was equally high in women who used the supposedly safer progestogen — pill alone.
Converted, contraception was responsible for an additional case of breast cancer on every 7690 women who took this form of contraception for five years or more.
The only good news was that the risk was relative and not absolute. This means that other factors, such as nutrition or environmental pollution, could also play a role and thus it could not be established that only the pill was responsible for this.
