Ranger Arjan Postma about #mieren . And what you can learn from these little creatures.

But look at ants. They show that things are very different. Ants are a bit of crazy creatures. You can apply them to us in all sorts of ways, because ants have all kinds of things that we have, like livestock breeding. They're at war. They have agriculture. They have all kinds of ways, including to make decisions. Ants live in a world of smell. Everywhere they walk, they walk along a scent road where they smell the messages of other ants. The antennae on their head are actually not antennae at all. They're external noses they smell everything. If you have such a scent path in your backyard and you draw a line over it with your finger, you break that scent path in half and create a fragrant ravine.

Ants do not dare to go over it and so there is a congestion. Ants start pushing, other ants want back. A traffic crash. The ants are waiting for one type of ant and there's only a percentage of that in the nest. Sometimes even less. I call those ants crazy ants, 'cause that ant goes right where he doesn't smell ants. That crazy ant comes up and walks over that scent ravine. The road has been restored and everyone can get back to work.
