To identify which women were accused of being witches, there were several stereotypes.

The woman who practiced curses or caused harm through hidden means.

The woman who made a pact with the devil as a servant.

The woman who flew at night and had bad intentions, such as eating small children or inducing men to sinful love.

The woman who belonged to a satanic sect or attended sabbatical meetings in secret caves.

The Inquisition used every means possible, including children, to discover possible heretics and witches. The inquisitors encouraged betrayal among children, where they found their best witnesses when it came to prosecuting the accused before the courts of the Holy Office.

The Inquisition also used the silence and marginalization of emancipated women to combat and counter their iron will, which allowed them to break the chains of oppression and gain access to positions controlled by men. Thus, emancipated women, who were accused of witchcraft and blasphemies against God, were subjected to the tortures of torture and left to burn like torches at the stake.
