#science How do locks work?
To close a door, a latch comes out of the lock and is inserted into the door frame. When you open the door, this latch goes back. The key turns a cylinder that makes the latch come out or between.
When the door is closed, springs introduce a row of fixings into the metal cylinder, which prevents it from rotating. The key notches release the cylinder fixings so that the key can turn and move the lock.
