How does a green screen work and what is it used for?
A green screen is a technique that uses a green background to isolate a person or object and place it in a different environment. This is done by “keying” (removing) the green color from the image with special software, such as Adobe Premiere, After Effects, or other video editing programs. Everything that is green in the image is made transparent, allowing you to place another image or video in the background.
Why green?
Green is often chosen because it is rare in skin tones and clothing, making it less likely that parts of a person will be accidentally removed. Sometimes a blue screen is also used, depending on the situation and the colors present in the shot.
